Mixer & Agitator Shafts

Replacement mixer & agitator shafts for propellers and mixing blades.

These drive a propeller or mixing blade in an open-tank or portable agitator, one end fits the mixer drive, the other fits the attachment. Pick a size below to load it into the configurator with the ends pre-machined. Three families: set-screw propeller (D-profile both ends, 316 SS), threaded propeller (5/16-24 right-hand thread, 316 SS), and mixing blade (1/4-20 left-hand thread for counterclockwise running, 303 SS, ships with a flat washer, left-hand hex nut, and sleeve washer). 5/16″ through 1″, up to 62″ long. You stay in control of material, finish, tolerance, and features.

The OD ships cold-finished (mill finish), the drive load transfers at the D-flat or thread, not the OD, so the OD doesn't need grinding. These carry standard ±0.005″ tolerances (no precision fits). For sanitary (food/pharma) service, switch to a polished or finer-Ra finish in the configurator; we'll grind any close-fitting seal or bushing surface you call out.

Mixer shaft sizes

Replacement mixer / agitator shafts that drive a propeller or mixing blade. One end fits the mixer drive, the other fits the attachment. Three families: set-screw propeller (D-profile both ends, 316 SS), threaded propeller (5/16-24 RH thread, 316 SS), and mixing blade (1/4-20 left-hand thread, 303 SS, ships with washers + nut). 5/16″ through 1″, up to 62″ long, with a cold-finished (mill) OD, no precision fits. Threaded Propeller

Mixing Blade

Frequently Asked Questions

It connects a mixer drive to a propeller or mixing blade. One end fits the mixer drive: a D-profile flat for a coupling or set screw, or a plain (straight) end. The other fits the attachment: a D-flat for a set-screw propeller, a thread for a threaded propeller, or a thread with washers for a mixing blade. Each loads into the configurator with the ends pre-machined; diameter, length, material, finish, and features stay editable.
Match the shaft diameter to your mixer drive and attachment, then the length to your tank depth. Pick the family by how the attachment mounts: set-screw propeller (D-profile both ends), threaded propeller (5/16-24 thread), or mixing blade (1/4-20 left-hand thread). If you're replacing a catalog part, the cards cross-reference the McMaster 3473K / 1123N / 3518K series.
Mixing blades run counterclockwise, so a left-hand thread tightens under load instead of backing off. The mixing-blade cards load a 1/4-20 left-hand thread and ship with a flat washer, a left-hand hex nut, and a sleeve washer. The threaded-propeller cards are right-hand (5/16-24).
Set-screw and threaded-propeller cards default to 316 stainless; mixing-blade cards default to 303 stainless. The OD ships cold-finished / turned (about 125 µin Ra, a "mill finish"), the drive load transfers at the D-flat or thread, not the OD, so the OD doesn't need grinding. For sanitary (food/pharma) service, switch to a polished or finer-Ra finish in the configurator. Material certs (MTRs) are available on request.
No, there are no precision bearing journals or press fits on these. They load with standard ±0.005″ tolerances. If your mixer has a close-fitting bushing or seal at the drive, tighten that surface's tolerance and finish in the configurator and we'll grind it.
The diameter, overall length, end types, and thread size/length/direction are taken from the published catalog data. The D-profile flat dimensions and which end is the mixer vs. attachment end are reconstructed from the catalog drawing and confirmed against a sample before we cut. The drawing title block stamps the source SKU so any deviation is visible.
