Terms of Service

Last updated: April 14, 2026

These terms govern your use of greatlakesshafts.com ("Site"). By using our services, you agree to these terms. You must be at least 13 years old to use this Site. For information about how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.

What We Do

Great Lakes Shafts provides online product configuration and ordering tools for custom-manufactured products. When you place an order, you're purchasing products made to your specifications.

Intellectual Property

All software, algorithms, user interfaces, configurator logic, pricing systems, designs, graphics, and platform technology displayed or used on this Site are our exclusive property and are protected by copyright, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these terms grants you any ownership or license rights to our intellectual property.

Prohibited Uses

You may not:

Confidentiality

Our pricing algorithms, supplier relationships, cost structures, and configurator logic constitute confidential and proprietary business information. By using our platform, you agree not to disclose, publish, or use this information for any purpose other than placing orders for your own use.

Orders and Payment

Submitting an order constitutes an offer to purchase, not a binding contract. An order is accepted only when we issue an order confirmation. We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order for any reason, including pricing errors, material unavailability, or specifications we determine are not manufacturable. If we cancel a confirmed order, your payment will be refunded in full.

When you place an order:

Product Specifications and Acceptance

The specifications shown in your order confirmation and any associated drawing constitute the complete product specification for your order. By placing your order, you accept that specification as the sole basis for acceptance or rejection of the delivered product. Our configurators enforce manufacturing constraints, but we do not verify fitness for your specific application. You are responsible for ensuring the specifications you enter meet your requirements. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering.

Material certifications, including Certified Mill Test Reports, are provided by the material supplier and passed through to you as received. We do not independently verify raw material chemical composition or mechanical properties beyond what is stated in the supplier's certification.

Shipping and Delivery

Delivery times are estimates. We'll communicate any significant delays. Shipping costs and methods are shown at checkout. Risk of loss passes to you upon delivery to the carrier.

Defects and Remedies

A product is defective only if it does not conform to the specifications in your order confirmation. If your order arrives damaged in transit or does not meet your ordered specifications, notify us in writing within 30 days of delivery at orders@greatlakesshafts.com. We may require the return of the nonconforming part for inspection.

For verified defects, we will, at our sole option, replace the nonconforming part or refund the purchase price of that part. This is your exclusive remedy for any defective product. We are not liable for costs related to your downstream assembly, installation, lost production, or any other consequential damages arising from a defective part.

Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account, refuse service, or cancel orders at our sole discretion, including for violation of these terms or any prohibited use.

Warranty Disclaimer

EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY SET FORTH IN THESE TERMS, ALL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY PRODUCT WILL BE SUITABLE FOR YOUR INTENDED APPLICATION.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF USE, COST OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS, OR PRODUCTION DOWNTIME, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OUR PRODUCTS OR SERVICES, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM A SPECIFIC ORDER SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THAT ORDER.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Great Lakes Shafts from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these terms or misuse of our platform.

Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. For significant changes, we'll provide notice.

Export Compliance

Products purchased through this Site are intended for use within the United States. By placing an order, you represent and warrant that you will not export, re-export, or transfer any product in violation of U.S. export control laws, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). You further represent that you are not a person or entity on any U.S. government restricted party list.

California Proposition 65 Notice

WARNING: Products sold through this Site may contain or expose you to chemicals including nickel, chromium, and lead, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals are present in steel, stainless steel, and aluminum alloys used in our products. Under normal handling of finished machined parts, exposure is minimal; however, machining, grinding, welding, or other processing of these products may generate dust or fumes that increase exposure. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
